Myra Shapiro, an experienced litigator and dedicated advocate for children and survivors of domestic violence, specializes in Family Court matters. Her concentrated focus includes handling cases related to Custody/Visitation, Family Offense, Child Support, Child Protection, and Juvenile Delinquency proceedings.

A former member and esteemed alumnus of the Attorneys for Children/Assigned Counsel Panel, Myra’s commitment to advocating for the rights of children and indigent adults in Queens Family Court remains unwavering. Her tenure as the Senior Director of the Queens Child Advocacy Center (QCAC) showcased her leadership in overseeing comprehensive investigative and treatment services for victims of child sexual and physical abuse, along with their non-offending family members.

Prior to her role at QCAC, Myra spent significant years prosecuting juvenile delinquency cases for the NYC Law Department, Office of Corporation Counsel, Family Court Division, and prosecuting child abuse and neglect cases. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Myra was among the pioneering females to attend Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. She earned her BA from SUNY Binghamton and her JD from SUNY Buffalo Law School. Since 2010, Myra has been in private practice alongside her husband and partner, Christopher Renfroe. Their office serves as a professional space shared with their son, Eric Renfroe, who is carving a path in the legal profession.

Myra’s unwavering commitment to Family Court matters underscores her dedication to advocating for the well-being and rights of individuals within the legal system, solidifying her impact in the realm of child advocacy and domestic violence support.
